Spring Snow Goose Hunting in Saskatchewan Canada with Feathered Fowl Outfitters
Saskatchewan, Canada Spring Snow Goose Hunting with Feathered Fowl Outfitters
As the snows travel back north for the season they have only a few concerns, the snow line and where they will get their last meal before they reach the tundra. Lucky for us, we are their last stop for that meal and it is common for the birds to feed all day in preparation for their final flight. That, mixed with a good source of water in the fields from the snow melt keep the birds feeding and moving most of the day. You can expect to get to the field early each morning to set the spread and hunt until the afternoon, or until limits are reached. Because the birds move most of the day, we do one set in the spring versus setting up morning and afternoon like in the fall. We will hunt a fresh field each day and if needed, we will move for an afternoon if for some reason the birds do not play nice! Liberal limits, awesome decoying snows and lots of shots ringing off is what most days are made of!
This is a very limited hunt as the season is short. We start running mid-April and end the season in mid-May. Date do not last long, once people experience decoying snows in the spring like we get in Saskatchewan, they come back year after year!

Getting your Gun(s) into Saskatchewan
The following is copied directly from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police’s website:
Licensing and Registration Requirements
Firearm owner and users in Canada need a valid firearms licence allowing them to possess firearms and a Canadian registration certificate for each firearm in their possession. A licence issued under Canada’s Firearms Act is different from a provincial hunting licence.
Declare firearms in writing, in triplicate, using the Non-Resident Firearm Declaration (form CAFC 909). **FFO note…do NOT sign the form, as you must sign in front of a Canadian customs official.
If there are more than three firearms, a Non-Resident Firearm Declaration Continuation Sheet (form CAFC 910) should be added.
Once the declaration has been confirmed by the CBSA customs officer, it acts as a licence for the owner and as a temporary registration certificate for the firearms brought to Canada.
A confirmed declaration costs a flat fee of $25, regardless of the number of firearms listed on it. It is valid only for the person who signs it and only for those firearms listed on the declaration.
Buying or Importing Ammunition
A confirmed Non-Resident Firearm Declaration will allow you to buy ammunition in Canada. As well, you may bring limited amounts into Canada with you. **FFO note…limited means 200 rounds.
